Justin teaches first year rhetoric classes, often with emphases on digital technologies and news media, as well as a seminar on the rhetoric of video games.

His most recent presentations and publications interrogate the way textual ambiguity stages ethical questions and opens space for uncertainty and self-reflection in the reader. His other interests include gender theory, rhetorics of religion and secularity, and formations of otherness.

He earned his PhD in English Literature at the University of Iowa in 2017 with a dissertation that explored the sense of wonder and estrangement produced in science fictional, fantasy, and other speculative genres.
